Occasionally, we see something that captures our imagination, stimulates our mind and enables us see the world in a different way than we have ever seen it before.  Such an opportunity came to me in the winter of 1987 while driving west on Route 55 a few miles east of Liberty, New York.  Fortunately, I had my camera with me and I captured this image.

The title for this photo came nearly 13 years later when The Bergen Record, a New Jersey newspaper, juried a photo contest with the theme "The Past as Prologue".  The image I captured in this photo immediately came to mind.  I entered the photo in the contest and it was awarded First Prize.

If it is indeed true that the past is prologue, understandably one could wonder, what might be standing in that farmer's field... the next time I drive by!
